The Teblaar

The Teblaar are a society made up of some of the most powerful mages who ultimately found a way of cheating, and thus being inbetween; life and death, gaining the positive aspects of both. It is rumored the only way of causing one of these things to cease to exist, is to best it in a battle of will, yet that is a futile battle-- who wills to live more than those who would not die? Thus they are simply accepted. These people are the recorders of everythng significant in the world and make a point not to meddle in mortal affairs but for the sole occasions of embracing new members or to take sacrifices for experimentations. These beings spend most of their time honing their abilities as sages, while they are usually collecting and sharing knowledge of any sort for council meetings. Should one meet a Teblaar it is only sane to answer their questions and be on one's way, for they emit a fridgid aura that after only minutes could prove lethal. One thing is essential-- make no physical contact, for to do so would be to reveal all that one hold within, things not wished known, ensued by death from a failing heart.
These "people" reside in their stronghold located in the Chavlarus mountains, occasionally leaving their territory so they may collect more information on what is happening around the continent. Their stronghold itself during the day is not visible to the mundane eye, yet even if seen with magic is still etherial, and should one walk through the etherial castle the contents on the insides would prove to be illusory. During the night, however, the castle is opaque and solid, emitting a ghostly spectrum of colours. They are generally a very neutral people though they tend to be more open and conversational with mages more than most fortunate enough to safely speak with one. The people wear hoods in respect of the living for the last man who set eyes upon the face of one went so mad it is said he ripped his eyes out of his head in an attempt to erase the memory. The spirit mercifully put him out of his misery and laid one ghostly hand upon him, killing him there and then, at the expense of all he held dear in his mind.
